A look back at 2023 with our sponsored riders…

We’ve enjoyed another busy year here at Thorpe Farm Rehab and Fitness! It’s been a pleasure to welcome lots of horses and their owners through the gates to use the gallops, school in our cross-country field and enjoy sessions on the water treadmill and TheraPlate or in the salt chamber. Amy and Tommy have also been busy with rehab and holiday liveries, giving horses top notch treatment and helping them get back to their best.  Our 2024 calendar is open and already filling up fast, so don’t miss out if you would love your horse to enjoy a five-star break while you relax and recharge your batteries.

Now, with Christmas just around the corner, we’re looking back at how our sponsored riders have got on during the past 12 months. We’re lucky to have a great team of local riders who use our facilities to keep their horses in the best possible shape for competitions and help them recover after an event. Let’s see how their seasons went and what we can expect from them in the future…

Charlotte Arnold-Gibson

Charlotte is a professional show jumper who runs a yard near Middlesbrough, and we’re proud to support her string and help keep them in tip top shape! Showjumper Charlotte has been in action this year at The Great Yorkshire Show and Stainsby Grange, among other places, and has enjoyed wins with her Grand Prix mare Leestone Blue Voltet – stable name Porky. Charlotte has another exciting mare to bring on in Emerald Blue, or Toff as she’s called at home. We love following Charlotte’s progress in the ring and look forward to seeing her compete indoors this winter.

Jessica Burnham

Our sponsored event and dressage rider Jessica Burnham has had a busy year juggling competing with studying for and then taking her A-Levels. She managed to find time to make the trip to Aston le Walls in the spring, and then dusted off her tails to ride the guinea pig test for the CCI-L 2* Junior Championship at Belsay. Since then, she’s been working hard schooling and patiently bringing on her beautiful grey gelding Arpege de Blaignac and it was a pleasure to see them out competing in unaffiliated eventing in the autumn. We know Jessica is itching to get out and compete again under BE rules in the spring and is working hard at home this winter!

This autumn we welcomed two new sponsored riders to the Thorpe Farm stable – Ebony Roderick and Molly McAllister. They are both young event riders from our local area and they answered a call out on social media for ambitious riders to be a part of our story. Here’s how they’ve got on this year:

Molly McAllister

Molly is a young rider who is based in North Yorkshire and campaigns two event horses, her gorgeous grey mare Superior View (Gracie) and her striking dun gelding Dunn Star. She’s been out on the circuit competing consistently from April all the way through to October alongside studying at sixth form college. Molly enjoyed a successful ending to her 2023 eventing season with three top ten placings in September alone! We can’t wait to see how she gets on after the horses have had a winter break and she can crack on with her training plan using our fitness and rehab facilities.

Ebony Roderick

Ebony is a young event rider who is based in nearby County Durham and is a member of the Northern under-18 event riding team. Ebony competed two horses in 2023, Pixel Perfect (Pixie) and Ardlea Sir Peter (Podgy!). Ebony has enjoyed a successful eventing season which took her all over the north of England and up to Blair Castle in Scotland! She wrapped up her season with a top ten finish at the regional championships at Little Downham and we know she’s working hard this winter to ensure she starts the season in style next year!
