The longer days and light evenings of summer can be amazing for getting out and doing more with your horse, but unless you’re based on a yard with amazing facilities, just hacking can get a little dull after a while. Heading to evening clinics, shows and events, or boxing to the gallops, beach, forests or even away from home for a horsey holiday, all requires transport. Plus, we know some people need to box their horse to the vets for diagnosis and need a box or trailer for that. But this year, with the high cost of living putting pressure on finances, we also know lots of horse owners have found that they can’t afford to buy and maintain their own trailer or box.
That’s why we’re so excited to share the latest service we’re offering at Thorpe Farm Rehab and Fitness – horsebox hire! As we write this month’s blog, there’s a shiny sign written horsebox sitting in the yard – and you can hire it. It’s a 3.5-tonne Fiat box that carries two horses facing forwards and has a handy groom’s compartment, and it’s available for self-drive hire by the day. Please note, you’re eligible to drive the box if you’re between 24 and 75 years old and have held a UK or EC driving licence for at least two years.
Our self-drive horsebox hire comes with 300 miles per day included, which means you can still enjoy competing or days out this summer but without the financial pressure of owning transport yourself. If you’re anything like us, then you’ll know the stress of waiting for news on a trailer test or lorry MOT… Well, this way, we’ll deal with that and all you need to do is make sure the tank is full, and the lorry is clean when you hand it back. This lorry is brand new and oh-so very shiny, so we know you’ll love taking it for a spin and we’re confident your horse will find it comfy to travel in!
