Introducing our new self-drive horsebox hire service! At Thorpe Farm Rehab & Fitness, we know that owning your own safe and reliable horse transport can be expensive. Or you have nowhere to park a trailer or box, and that limits your chances of getting out and about! That’s why we’ve invested in a state-of-the-art 3.5 tonne Fiat horsebox. The horses travel forwards and there’s a handy groom’s compartment for all your kit. Whether you need to get to a competition, vet appointment, day out or training clinic, our horsebox is available for daily hire to make your journey smooth and stress-free.
How our horsebox hire works
Hiring our horsebox costs £100 plus VAT per day (we also do half day hires too), and we will take a £200 refundable deposit. It will be handed over with a full tank of diesel and must be returned clean and with a replacement full tank! Dogs are not allowed in the horsebox, there is no smoking permitted and any mileage over 300 miles will incur a 30p per mile charge. If that all sounds good, booking our self-drive horsebox is simple and straightforward. Here’s what you need to do:
Check if you’re eligible
Our horsebox can be driven by people aged 24 to 75 who have held a valid UK or EU license for at least two years. You must have a valid passport for every horse or pony you transport using the box.

Download documents
Before you hit the road, you’ll need to ensure you understand all the details of our hire agreement, including extra fees that may be incurred and details of alternative collection times. We’ll ask you to review a few documents, including our full price sheet, and complete our hirer checklist and terms and conditions.
On the day
You need to bring two recent (within three months) documents that prove your name and address and your photo driving license for us to take copies of for our records.
